Our mission
Protection, delivered with dignity
CAPRIDIS is committed to protecting and promoting the rights, dignity, safety, and well-being of refugees, immigrants, internally displaced persons, returnees, asylum seekers, stateless persons, and disaster-affected communities. The organisation delivers humanitarian assistance, protection services, and development support in line with international humanitarian law, human rights standards, and refugee protection principles.

Accountability
Reporting that can be checked
To promote transparency and accountability, CAPRIDIS will regularly publish annual reports, financial reports, programme reports, situation updates, humanitarian assessments, project results and donor impact reports. These publications will allow donors, partners and the public to monitor activities and understand the impact of their support.
Restricted funds
Where a donor names a programme or project, the funds are committed to it, and the use of those funds is reported back.
Safeguarding
No photograph of an identifiable refugee, displaced person or child is published without documented consent. Complaints about staff conduct go to the safeguarding focal point, who reports to the Board.

Registered head office: Uvira, South Kivu Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Established for an indefinite duration. Operates throughout the DRC and may extend operations, partnerships and programmes to regional and international levels.
History
Founded to bring humanitarian organisations together
CAPRIDIS — the Consortium of Associations for the Protection of Refugees, Immigrants, Internally Displaced Persons and Disaster Victims — is a humanitarian, non-profit and non-political consortium. It was established to strengthen protection, humanitarian assistance and durable solutions for refugees, asylum seekers, immigrants, internally displaced persons, returnees and disaster-affected communities.
The idea was initiated on 5 October 2023 by Mr. Alex Buchunga Bigera, through his organisation Stand for the Refugees in DRC (SRD). The vision was to bring national and local humanitarian organisations together to work collectively on refugee protection, humanitarian response and sustainable development throughout the Democratic Republic of the Congo, beginning in South Kivu and Tanganyika Provinces.
CAPRIDIS was officially established in July 2024, and continues to work in collaboration with government institutions, humanitarian organisations, community-based organisations and international partners.

Reception centres, camps and host communities
CAPRIDIS supports humanitarian interventions in collaboration with the relevant authorities. Activities extend throughout the Democratic Republic of the Congo and internationally, wherever humanitarian cooperation and refugee protection initiatives are required.

Initial focus

How funds are used and accounted for
Funds are allocated to the programme or cause named by the donor. Where a gift is unrestricted, it supports the areas of greatest need across the consortium's programmes.
CAPRIDIS will regularly publish annual reports, financial reports, programme reports and donor impact reports, so that donors, partners and the public can monitor activities and understand the impact of their support. Any concern about the use of funds can be raised through the complaints channel, which is monitored independently of the programme team.
Restricted giving
Where a donor names a cause, the funds are committed to that cause, and their use is reported back to the donor.

Complaints and feedback
Anyone can raise a complaint about CAPRIDIS staff, partners or activities — people we assist, community members, staff, volunteers, suppliers and donors. Complaints can be anonymous.

Complaints concerning sexual exploitation, abuse or harassment, and complaints involving children, bypass the programme team entirely and go to the safeguarding focal point. Retaliation against a complainant is itself a disciplinary matter.
